In the skies of the middle east we are seeing the opening salvos of war in an era of ubiquitous long range strike. ⬇️

Escalating to War between Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran

There is a serious risk of all-out war between Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran. According to new CSIS analysis, both the scale and geographic scope of violence has dramatically increased and could spread further throughout the region.

With Defence spending estimated to be ~2.1% of GDP*, Iran has been able to develop an extensive and sophisticated array of missiles and drones. They’ve also built the strike capabilities of non-state proxies such as Hezbollah and the Houthis. Proliferation of anti air, anti shipping and long range land attack missiles, rockets and drones is now a feature of the modern battlefield.

Despite Israel having one of the most advanced layered Air and Missile Defence system, we are seeing the limitations of being on the Defensive end of large scale long range strike packages. There is niche for lower cost counter measures to limit the use of exquisite and expensive systems to neutralising only the most complex threats.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has an insightful summary of the escalating conflict between Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran that we’ll link to in the comments. CSIS also maintains an excellent microsite Missile Threat that features the world’s offensive and defensive missile technology for further research and analysis
